Frequently asked questions
What do the courses cost?
The Ultimate Business Start Up costs £295. This includes all course resources, 9 hours of coaching and tuition and access to the Third Space Education Entrepreneurs alumni network.

Our other courses cost between £30 - £75.

How big are the class sizes?
The class size will be no more than 5 students. This gives the tutor time to get to know each student so they can best advise them on running their small business.

What are the entry requirement for the course?
There are no formal academic entry requirements for this course but a can-do attitude is essential. We can help coach the technical skills and we have lots of templates to guide teenagers through the process of setting up a business.

Will my teenager need money to start their business?
Yes. This could come from a parent loan or their own savings. We suggest that around £20-£50 should be enough to start the sort of business that we will help them build. If you have agreed to loan them money, we will explain the concept of interest, so you are welcome to apply interest to the loan you offer them.

Do the students have to pay tax on the money they earn from their business?
If they are below the current income tax threshold, they do not have to pay tax on their income. We will guide them through current thresholds and signpost them about how to register for self assessment in the UK. It is unlikely they will exceed the tax threshold during the trading period on this course but it will depend on any part time jobs they have.

Do I need a laptop?
It is certainly easier to use a laptop to access the materials and conduct research during the lessons, but students could use a smartphone. Students will be asked to complete a business plan document which will be easier to do on a laptop

Will I get a starter pack to prepare for the course?
Yes. The start pack will contain business ideas to consider before starting the course, a student contract to sign and return and a basic questionnaire about individual aspirations and education so that tutors can best advise on how to fit running a business around education and school commitments.

How does the Third Space Alumni Network work?
This is a professional network of young entrepreneurs who are keen to connect with like-minded people. The network is managed via Linked In and course attendees are given details in the final training session as part of the 'My future growth' module.
